Now while flowers are a lovely thing to receive, they can be quite expensive and let's face it, they die! My mother is also highly allergic so it was an all round bad idea.
So I took some inspiration from a Mother's Day gift one of my boys had made for me at kinder this year and together WallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355188199423843550.post-16339946499034074082014-07-15T16:35:00.000+10:002014-07-15T21:34:49.269+10:00Showstopper Superhero PartyWhat is it with superheroes?
My 3 year old son had never seen a superhero TV show or movie, had never read a comic or book, had never seen a superhero in action at all and yet he desperately wanted a superhero birthday party for his 4th birthday (well he actually wanted a 'Spiderman' party but we gently suggested that it might be nicer for guests, not to mention easier for us if we includedWallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355188199423843550.post-77079178171153419282014-06-10T15:11:00.002+10:002014-06-10T21:41:56.748+10:00Superhero Cupcake Stand - DIYPreparations for the 'Superhero' party for Mister 4 are in full swing and, let's face it, the creative juices are well and truly flowing.

I always promise to take photos and post a step by step of my next cake, but I always run out of time.
Here is a snapshot summary of this one:
Base rectangular cake - white chocolate mud cake cooked in a rectangular tray.
Spider man head cake - vanilla butter cake cooked in a soccer ball tray cut and pasted back together to make an oval WallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355188199423843550.post-27159169875495748422014-05-27T12:33:00.003+10:002014-05-27T12:42:30.999+10:00Cooking With Kids - DamperI think by now we all know that kids love cooking. They love learning how things are made and being part of the process of creating something that they can eat. It gives them a great sense of satisfaction and achievement and can even sway a fussy eater into trying something new if they have 'cooked' it themselves.
I am always looking for ways to get the kids involved in the kitchen like Sunday WallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355188199423843550.post-35430422056232930532014-05-20T15:14:00.001+10:002014-05-20T19:01:09.621+10:00Aussie Animals On Their Way!I am sooooo excited about this!
A little known fact (not really but it sounds dramatic) is that we welcomed our adorable baby girl into our family of four last year. I have used this very effective method of displaying wall art and wanted to share this very very simple DIY idea for mounting pictures on canvas:
I love this method of block mounting for a number of reasons:

No, I don't mean the holidays, although they are also creeping up, I mean time for organising and planning the kids' birthdays.
This year my eldest son turns 4 and he is determined to have a superhero party. You may or may not be a fan of stereotypical 'themed' parties for kids, but once your nearly 4 year old gets his mind set on something, WallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355188199423843550.post-80546702200788155662012-10-24T23:05:00.003+11:002012-11-13T16:04:53.477+11:00Bull Cake CompromiseA mother is nothing, if not a dealer in compromise.
My son wanted a rainbow bull cake for his 3rd birthday and while I managed to talk him out of it in this post I couldn't disappoint him completely.
This is where compromise kicks in:
This party was my first (and only so far) attempt at cake pops. Although guests said lots of nice things, I pretty much considered it a fail in WallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355188199423843550.post-59309162255020361652012-05-12T14:51:00.002+10:002012-05-12T14:52:36.894+10:00The Coolest Play Center Ever?In Australia we have indoor play centers. These play centers are commonly (with exceptions I am sure of, but yet to experience) pretty standard variations on a similar theme; small play area for toddlers with the treacherous ball pit (where you can find all sorts of foreign objects from other kids poo to intravenous needles) and a smattering of half-broken wheeled toys; larger areaWallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355188199423843550.post-25195398894948655392012-05-11T09:26:00.001+10:002012-05-11T09:27:52.974+10:00Website Launch - and a SALEAfter lots of hard work and dedication the WallFry website has finally launched and it looks pretty cool, if I do say so myself - www.wallfry.com.au :

Each year I make my two boys a cake. You may remember my post regarding the dilema with my 3-year olds 3rd birthday cake which ended up being a pretty satisfactory lion (albeit a licensed TV character, but that is all part of the story). This time it was nearing my youngest son's 2nd birthday so again the preparations begin:

It is a great idea for storing the copious amounts of soft toys that kids accumulate (if you don't have at least 30 soft toys scattered around the house right at this moment then you must be throwing them out - go on count them, I dare you!) and doubles nicely as a pouffee (albeit a little WallFryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664605328282734805noreply@blogger.com1
